Fashion Island:
A Hidden Gem for Fountain Conoisseuers
Are you tired of shopping at such mainstream places as “The Lab” and “The Camp”? Fear not! I have discovered a new place to hang out with friends. It's called Fashion Island! It's an island of artsyness amid mainstream Newport.
Today we will be focusing on Fashion Island's wonderful water features.
Obelisk Ancient Fountain: Our Fashion Island fountain walking tour begins with this ancient water feature dating back to the Roman Empire. The fountain was constructed as part of the re-engineering of Fashion Island as the luxury capital of Newport. Be sure to admire the sculptural work by famed local artist Bernini. A slice of Mussolini amid sunny California.
Iris Fountain of Oppurtunity: After enjoying a quick expensive lunch at Lemonade, gaze down at the Iris Fountain below. Listen intently as the fountain ebbs and flows like the nearby ocean. Every few minutes or so water will erupt and spray nearby distracted moms and the Kardasians. As you stare mesmerized by the light shimmering in the bands of water, you can think about how lucky you are to be in Newport Beach instead of draught filled Africa. How fortunate are we to use water as a way to dispose of our pesky change!
The Pineapple Fountain of Paradise: Ahhh! A personal favorite! This fountain may lack the technology and grandness of the Iris Fountain of Oppurtunity, but it should not be overlooked. Watch earnestly as water trickles down the stone pineapple into the basin below. What excellent public fountains we have here in NB!
Macy's Amazing Fountain of Fortune: Last, but certainly not least, Egg Ti-Weekly presents “Macy's Amazing Fountain of Fortune.” This eye-catching masterpiece of water engineering consists of over a dozen perimeter fountains angled toward the center. They collide aggressively in the center. Be sure to come close and put your hand in the water to cool off if it's a hot day. But don't get too carried away and put your feet in the basin because security might escort you off the premise.
